Oh an forgot to tell you if your looking for a depressed qualit oil play how about COP? looks to me like you could channel this for a lot more than 1 dollar and its in an uptrend to you will have lower bottoms and higher tops. IMO (highs 68.44, 68.75, 70.49 lows 63.77, 64.97, now low still to come but i dont think it will get in the 65 range untill we have dollar back under 60)

hey zee, that wont work, i'll have to be more creating than that. if i use 3% up in last 20 days i'll get tons of junk. i'll have to try something using a combination of 20dma and 50dma, like a reducing % difference between the two over a period of time. i'll let you know what i come up with over the weekend and get your take on it. right now all i've thought is something like all stocks within a 3% diff in 20/50dma AND all stock with atleast a 6% diff say 5 days back AND 10% diff say 10 days back. this will give me a converging trend line. the prob is mastering or writing this scan.

Hey ZEE... I hear you on GPI, but you know what? 33% profit for a couple days ain't bad, man. I am capable of not looking back once I close a winning trade. One f@#cking problem I still have however is impulse buying,emotion buying. Bought NYX as it was soaring up from it's A.M. lows, only to have it fall to it's lows of day at end. TRN - I would buy it after a white candle. Based on stoc and macd it started its descend. It might have a few points left before it finishes falling. But it willl pull a TRID, but right now it's a little too early to buy.

HNSN - i think should get back to 22, not in a day or two, it will take time but its very strong and i feel that yesterday presented us with an excellent entry point.

I am feeling so crappy today. I sold some stocks for losses on Monday and today they are all up huge!!!
I'm feeling so disappointed that I can find good setups, but I can't believe how horrible my timing is. I'm missing these huge moves by 3rd day because I sold them for losses. It looks like if I want to buy a stock today, I should really do it in two days.
drnova i feel you brother, i so totally feel you. i bought DSTI at 5.34 and put a stop at 4.95. dont know why i chose 4.95 there was no indication that 5 dollar was a support or anything. so what happens to me, 2 days after i buy the DSTI dips to 4.85 takes me out and then the very next day it peaks at 5.48. i was so damn pissed with myself - lesson choose wise stops if you have to use any or dont use stops at all.
i hope your smiling with your HNSN profits dude. look at JADE, looks like it might be bottoming here around 10.

we dont have to use 20 days, we can try with 20 first and see the kind of results we get. if 20 doesnt work we can either decrease or increase the # of days. i would prefer to decrease the # of days if we have to move from 20. i chose 20 because that is half of 2 mths - 2 mth being 42 days (assuming 21 working days in every mth)

zee for the scan what can i say, im such a dork. this is why i loose money, i'm not thorough enough. that scan is not going to get us what we want, even the slope of a line is not going to get us what we want, i spent 2 hrs today researching to find out how to determine the angle of a line without using functions like TAN/COS/SIN but couldnt find any. its gonna take more time, i might have to switch to using rate of change or something, but i'll make a scan by the end of this weekend. keep watching and give me feedback.

zee, the scan ((C - C20) / C20) * 100 will only give you the % change of the stock from the 20 day close. it can help generate a watchlist to get in at a pull back. i can give you these every day if you like. do you have a watchlist or you want to run it against all stocks and then take the top 10-20 from the result of the scan.

doc, that is an excellent position to be in. i wish i could work parttime. that would give me enough time to do trading and i could start making some serious money. right now i just have some theories and am working to find anomolies in the mkt like zee's 30/50 rule. i made serious losses my first two yrs, cause i always got in at the wrong time and got spooked out too soon. this yr however i've started in a postive note and am profitable as of now, even after the feb correction (which is surprising, cause in any normal yr i would have been broken by now lol). so i think i'm making some progress, however one day i really want to do this full time.
hey zee, its not a problem for me at all, trust me. if i create the scans, i can run them everyday in under 5 mins, and post them here in say 10 mins. for 15 mins of effort i have no issues at all. if u want them once a week that is fine too. so let me get this right, you are looking for stocks (in the whole wide world lol, i mean all stocks that are traded somewhere like 7500 i think) that have risen more than 11% in the past 20 days. your scan will be like

ICON - i like this personally and its pulling back very nicely. i want to get in when it starts showing signs of reversing. i'm sure it will take out its prev high.
HOKU - Worden had notes on this that it would take out 7.2 in the next run up so keep your eye on it.
MVIS - we have missed the bus on this one, Jake pointed it out earlier. Worden likes it too and so it would be nice to get in when it starts to move up. i can give you tons of technical reasons to like this if you want.
KOMG - is showing signs of bottoming, technically a lot of interest is being built in it. an early build up in this will yield excellent returns on a longer hold. if you really want to wait for confirmation to get in wait for it to break above 34.35/34.5.
right now its resting on the 20dma, i dont think it will fall below 31.7, so low risk n high reward play. worth keeping eye on. i'm signing off now, gotta get some shut eye so that i can work tomorrow :)
Oh and before i foget to mention, KOMG has started forming what is called the famous LOWER LOWS, not the higher highs yet, cause it still has to take out 35.01, but if you see its not falling below 31.6xx either :), all strong signs.

zee, i'm sorry i misunderstood what you wrote last night, i guess i must have been sleepy. for ICON i have a feeling we wont be seeing the 18.8 range again for a long long time. ideally i will be happy if it doesnt dip below 19.04 so i think somewhere around 19.5 will be a good entry point, but it all needs to be decided kinda at the moment.
alright now lets get back to the filters. i just thought of something, since you dont trade stock below 15, i can add that additional filter 'C > 15', this will produce better results for you. I can also add a volume filter of Vol > 500,000 or 1 mill, which ever you like better (or 100K). additionally i was thinking of sorting the results based on something, say EPS or Price from 52 week low or 52 week high, or give me something that you use while you look for stocks daily. i will run this against all the stocks and then take the top 50 and give them to you either every weekend or every evening.

also i checked out the yahoo link, the portfolio looks good, i keep a lot of watchlists in my yahoo account, but i dont use the statistics there, especially the 50dma and 200dma numbers. i've noticed that sometimes their numbers are incorrect. you can try for a few symbols. look up the 50/200 dma in stockchart and compare it with yahoo's and you'll see what i'm talking about. i guess the only way you can actually find out if the stock has drifted to your 50dma is to check the chart everyday.

i went through all the 329 charts and found that none (i shouldn't say none) of these offer a good buying opporotunity right now, as can be expected since these are the top fliers. i found maybe 2-3 that looked like they might have retraced. i'll post them on your new string in the evening when i get home. i think we should refresh this list maybe once a month, since its a 20 day scan, what do you think.
8 good 2 bad...I was talking about the red line..50 day....8 charts have good potential to show the 1 to 3 day signal..50 day moving up steep....and two charts...the red line 50day...is straight across...
